Location. The Hotel Estrela de Fatima is located in Fatima, Portugal. It is positioned across the street from the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima and one kilometre from the apparition site of Valinhos, where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared.

Hotel Features. Completely refurbished in 2006, the reception of Hotel Estrela de Fatima features a modern decor with marble flooring and dark polished wood. The hotel is spread over three floors, accessible by lift, and amenities include a restaurant, two caf� bars, a currency exchange service and parking (surcharge). Guests can play a game of chess and relax in an easy chair in the television lounge.

The hotel restaurant serves Portuguese dishes in air conditioned surroundings. The caf� bars have dark wood panelling and comfortable sofas.

Business amenities include wireless Internet access and a conference room with seating for up to 65 people.

Guestrooms. The 66 air conditioned rooms at Hotel Estrela have bright, contemporary decor with rich fabrics and light wood furnishings. Expert Tip. In 1917, the Virgin Mary appeared six times to three peasant children in Fatima. To celebrate these apparitions, crowds gather at the Sanctuary in Fatima during the night of the 12th and morning of the 13th, each month, between May and October.

From Lisbon (Portela) International Airport (LIS):
Distance to Hotel Estrela de Fatima is 115 kilometres, approximately 60 minutes' drive.

Getting there. Aerobus shuttle, number 91, runs between the airport, the city centre and the Cais do Sodre railway station every 20 minutes. Tickets cost 2 EUR for a single and 3.10 EUR for all day travel, and can be purchased on board. Buses run from Lisbon to Fatima and fares are around 10 EUR. Taxis from the airport to the hotel cost about 150 EUR. There are extra fees for luggage and a 20 percent surcharge for night services. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. A regular bus service connects Fatima with many towns and villages in the area. For travelling further afield, a hire car is useful

Driving directions. From the airport, take Highway A1, heading North.
Take the exit for Fatima.
Follow directions for Sanctuary South.
The hotel is located next to the Post Office, at the entrance of the Sanctuary.
