The Hotel Melia Gaia Porto is a large modern hotel, recently opened in 2004 and situated in Gaia village three kilometres from Porto's historical city centre and its famous wine cellars. The 294 air conditioned guestrooms have modern decor in blue and cream with carpeted floors. All guestrooms are equipped with direct dial phones, satellite television, wireless Internet, desks, safes, minibars and marble bathrooms with hair dryers and telephones.
After breakfast, guests of the hotel can relax in the lounge, order drinks from the bar, browse the daily newspapers or use wireless Internet to look up local information. There is a full service health spa offering a choice of massage and beauty treatments as well as an indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Portuguese and international dishes are served in Restaurant Chanceleiros, and before or after a meal, guests can chat over drinks at Bar Vesuvio in its contemporary lounge. The executive traveller is well catered to with audio visual equipment, conference rooms and a business centre at his disposal. Multilingual staff at the front desk can store valuables in the safe deposit box and advise on sightseeing opportunities. Guests can visit the Port Wine Cellars and the River Douro Valley, three kilometres away, the Bridges of Porto and the Se Cathedral, three and a half kilometres away, or the Gaia beaches seven kilometres away. Francisco Sa Carneiro Porto Airport is 20 kilometres from the hotel with an approximate driving time of 20 minutes.

Taxis are readily available from the arrivals terminal and cost approximately 20 EUR to get to the hotel. Driving directions: From the airport, follow the IC1 road to Porto and then go onto the Arrabida Bridge (Ponte da Arrabida). Next take the Gaia (Colmbroes) exit and follow the directions for Gaia Centre on the IC23 road. Continue to drive ahead until the Soares dos Reis exit. Go around the garden of Soares Dos Reis always on the left side of the roundabout. After the traffic lights, turn left and take the first street on the right (Visconde das Devesas) where the hotel is located.
